Recently, Kelver’s K9 Comfort Corps held a ONEHOPE Wine fundraiser hosted by Purposeful Pours – Erika Haahr. If you aren’t familiar with ONEHOPE, check them out here. If you’d like to purchase some of these wines and give back to KKCC (a portion of the proceeds goes back to them), then click the button below! If you have questions, join the Facebook group here. Sales end February 14, 2025 so order your bottles today!
Here are the wines we sampled, how they’re described by the winery, and what I thought of them.
Prosecco, Italy

Profile
- Off-dry
- Balanced
- Fruity Italian
Tasting Notes
- Notes of pear and green apple with light, fresh bubbles
Pairings
- Fruit & Cheese plates
- Seafood chowder
- Lemon cake
Marlon says…definitely not as dry as I’m used to…but what I’m used to is grocery store or Target level Prosecco. Definitely enjoyable. They said it pairs with lemon cake so I poured some over my lemon cake. It brought out the citrus and I absolutely would do it again.

Chardonnay, California

Profile
- Rich and viscous palate
- Lasting finish like meringue
Tasting Notes
- Notes of green apple
- Bright citrus
- Vanilla
Pairings
- Creamy cheeses
- Fresh crab
- Spiced squash
- Macaroons
Marlon says… ChardonYAY! (Not ChardonNAY.) This is was not sour at all, which is normally how I feel about Chardonnay. Feels light… the word “Refreshing” is what comes to mind
Rosé, California

Profile
- Dry and crisp Rose of Grenache and Sirah
- Rich strawberry backbone
Tasting Notes
- Watermelon
- Strawberry
- Bing cherry
- Blood orange
Pairings
- Baked ham
- Strawberry salad
- Grilled tomatoes
- Fresh herbs
Marlon says… Rosé is light & sweet. However, this was the weak link of the bunch. Not to say it’s bad, it just isn’t as good as the rest of the wines tasted.
Vintner Red Blend, California

Profile
- Bold
- Complex
- Off-dry blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Zinfandel
Tasting Notes
- Cherry
- Raspberry
- Cocoa powder
- Vanilla
Pairings
- Grilled bacon burgers
- Arugula salad
- BBQ ribs
- Berry pie
Marlon says… Feels like summer. Lighter. Definitely my favorite of the array. I came back to it after I tried all of them and it is most definitely my favorite. May join the wine club just for this one.
Reserve Red Blend,Central Coast, California

Profile
- Smooth and balanced blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot
Tasting Notes
- Dark cherry
- Oak
- Spices
- Leather
- Dried rose petals
Pairings
- Cheese & nut board
- Mushroom sausage soup
- Squash risotto
Marlon says… Feels like fall/winter red blend. Earthier & fuller. Heavier if you will. But too heavy for me.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles, California

Profile
- Dry and densely structured Cab
- Layered with complex aromas
Tasting Notes
- Bold Dark cherry
- Dried herbs
- Fresh vanilla bean
Pairings
- Braised greens
- Bleu cheese stuffed flank steak
- Rosemary cake
Marlon says… Not a fan of that one. There’s a lot going on with that one. Definitely prefer the Vintner Red Blend over the other reds tasted.
