Nappanee Apple Festival

I’ve lived in Michiana since 2013, but it wasn’t until today that I finally made it out to the Nappanee Apple Festival. The 49th annual event of this town with a population of less than 7,000 was everything I’ve heard it to be. Classic fair food trucks all over, carnival rides for the littles, vendors all over and around Main Street, and well, as expected, apple goodies for those who are willing to wait in line.

No trip to the Apple Festival would be complete without checking out the goodies. Pies, breads, dumplings, caramel apples, cookies, cakes, the tents are filled far and wide with treats for all.

One of the evergreen attractions in between some of the businesses is the Comic Book Alley, highlighting the six legendary, nationally-known cartoonists that called Nappanee home.

One of the (literally) biggest attractions of the festival is the apple pie that’s 7 feet in diameter! They’ve been serving up portions all weekend, so not much was left, but you can still see how big this thing was!

If you can make it out there, they go until 10pm Saturday and then 11a-5pm Sunday the 21st! If you can stand the crowds, it’s definitely worth the trip!
