Berrien Springs is a small town with a population of about 2,000 people (as of 2020) about 15 miles from St. Joseph, Michigan. On Old 31 in Berrien Springs is Andrews University, a small private college with just under 3,000 students (as of 2022). Whether or not you subscribe to the beliefs of their Seventh Day Adventist founders, AU has a gem of a museum on campus that is open to the public, and free.
The Museum of Natural History is a wonderful spectacle that you would never know existed in driving by the campus. This past summer at the Monarch Butterfly release at Love Creek County Park (also in Berrien Springs), my kids and I met Roshelle Hall, the Assistant Curator of the AU museum. She invited us to stop by the museum, and a couple weeks later, we took her up on that offer.
Before we even got the actual museum, we saw several exhibits and specimens in the hallway walking up, including a leopard pelt and an array of microscopes dating back centuries.

But once we were inside, we were greeted by the most complete Woolly Mammoth skeleton we had ever seen.

Inside there were specimens of preserved animals and bugs of all shapes and sizes. Take a look for yourself.
